SUNDOWN ADVENTURELAND HYBRID ENERGY CENTRE

About:
Sundown Adventureland is a children’s theme park in Rampton, near the Yorkshire border. It originally opened as a farmyard in 1968 and now has over 20 rides and attractions. Adding to the park’s success, the owners wanted to create a new holiday destination enabling visitors from across the UK to experience everything the park has available over multiple days.

The Challenge:
The new staycation lodges, reception building, and site shop will increase the theme park’s already considerable energy profile, with each unit requiring electricity, heating and hot water.
Due to local grid restraints, this would require an upgrade to their current grid connection with a price tag of more than £1 Million, which would effectively be dead money and wouldn’t achieve the owners ‘eco-friendly’ ambitions.

The Solution:
To finance, design, manufacture, build, test, commission and operate a Hybrid Energy Centre (HEC).
An HEC is an on-site high-performance energy generation & storage solution for medium and high voltage grid connections. This HEC will remove the theme park’s dependency on grid-supplied power and facilitate the expansion of the off-grid eco-friendly lodge park, providing all their heat and power requirements, including new electric vehicle charging stations.

The HEC will provide energy cost savings by outperforming criteria set by network operators & deliver exceptional carbon and environmental improvements due to local generation and harnessing sustainable energy. The HEC will help make the site a sustainable attraction for the park’s visitors.
